1.INTRODUCTION

INDUSTRIAL TRAINING is a mandatory component of polytechnic education as well as other postsecondary degrees of education. It provides students with a look into the sectors and helps them prepare for a career. Students may gain hands-on experience and strengthen their employability in the future by enhancing their abilities required by stakeholders and developing their understanding of workplace behaviour through Industrial Training.

This course introduces students to workplace abilities that are in high demand in many sectors. Students are exposed to technological literacy, effective communication, social skills and collaborative practice, rules, processes, and regulations, professional ethics, and reporting. This will improve students' attitudes toward being proactive students, allowing them to gain confidence in their abilities as new workers.

 

2.COURSE LEARNING OUTCOME (CLO)

Students should be able to do the following after completing this course:

• Apply associated skills and knowledge in the workplace

• Be able to interact well with people

• Put your teamwork skills to the test

• Act in a professional and ethical manner while adhering to the organization's policies, procedures, and guidelines

HEAD OF DEPARTMENT AWARD

Eligibility criteria

  • Obtained Full Pass (LP) with the Total Average Value Points (CGPA) equals or exceeds 3.50 for the final semester.
  • Active in curriculum
  • The candidates must achieve minimum score 80% ( reviewed by the Academic of Excellent Awards and Curriculum form).
    Never subject to disciplinary action by the Disciplinary Board of the Polytechnic.


HEAD OF DEPARTMENT SPECIAL AWARD

Eligibility criteria

  • Obtained Full Pass (LP) with the Total Average Value Points (CGPA) equals or exceeds 3.50 for the final semester.
  • Never subject to disciplinary action by the Disciplinary Board of the Polytechnic.


OUTSTANDING STUDENT AWARD

The awards are given to the students who are excellence and active in leadership at the polytechnic for each session. The marking criteria is based on student's leadership involvement at the polytechnic and recognition from the outsiders. The students also actively involved in student representative council, sports, entrepreneurship and community service.

POLITECHNIC DIRECTOR AWARD 

i. Curriculum Academic Excellence Awards (Polytechnic).
Nomination and Selection rules

A best overall graduate for each session will be selected
Student Sub-Committee Selection will do selection based on the highest scores in Academic of Excellent Awards and Curriculum form.
The Committee's decision is final.


ii. The Best Project Awards (Polytechnic)
This award is given to the students who have successfully produced the best final semester project at the polytechnic for each session. The marking criteria is referred to the Best Project Awards Nomination.

ACADEMIC AND CO-CURRICULAR EXCELLENCE AWARD

Eligibility criteria

  • Obtained Full Pass (LP) with the Total Average Value Points (CGPA) equals or exceeds 3.50 for the final semester.
  • Has reached the value points equals or exceeds 2.00 for each course has taken.
  • Active in curriculum.
  • The candidates must achieve minimum score 80% ( reviewed by the Academic of Excellent Awards and Curriculum form).
  • Never subject to disciplinary action by the Disciplinary Board of the Polytechnic.

Nomination and Selection rules

  • The award is given to the best graduates of the department for each session when the convocation of polytechnics.
  • The recipients are one of the members in each department.
  • The results of all semesters, records and certificate of sports and co-curricular activities will be used as the main factor of nomination.
  • Student Selection Committee will do selection based on the highest scores in Academic of Excellent Awards and Curriculum form.
  • The Committee's decision is final.

AWARDING OF CERTIFICATE AND DIPLOMA

The students are considered graduation and be awarded the certificate for specified program if it achieve the following criteria:

  • Pass all the courses required for the program;
  • Getting CGPA equal to or more than 2.00;
  • Obtain the complete total credits for a particular program and ;
  • Has been certified by the Examination board.

Class sessions in Polytechnic begin from Monday to Friday and usually start at 8.15am and end at 4.15pm. Time-off is between 1.15pm until 2.15pm. Nevertheless, students are required to refer to the timetable for lectures, practical, and tutorials according to the courses they are in. Students also are needed to check with the lecturers for any unexpected changes regarding their classes- extra classes or change of venue.

Students’ attendance are compulsory for all activities like lectures, practical (laboratory/ workshop), tutorial, co-curricular and other activities related to academic programs.

Students who are not attending classes for more than 3 days in a row without any Head of Department’s permission or any solid reasons, they can be terminated form polytechnic. Students can also be terminated from their study due to disciplinary actions, lack of interest in studies or low examination achievement that fails to reach the minimum target that sets by Examination Unit in Polytechnic system.

Students who wish to quit or defer their studies on any particular reasons can do so by completing the quit/ deferment of studies form. However, students should refer to their academic advisor prior to quit/deferment of studies.

Every student is compulsory to register their courses upon the opening of every semester. Course registration must be done after having a discussion with their appointed academic advisor. Students are required to use the course registration form provided and submit it to their academic advisor. Registration after the dateline is prohibited.

Following the registration, students are eligible to terminate or add course. Termination or addition of courses can be made depending on the reasons stated and must be verified by the Head of Department. Once approved, students may proceed by filling up the form and submit it to their academic advisor on the set date.

Students are compulsory to attend all lectures. The prerequisite for students to sit for examination (courses with final examination) is to fulfill 80% of the attendance in the final semester. A show cause letter must be presented to the course lecturer in case the students are unable to attend the scheduled classes. Failure to carry out the responsibility could effect in detaining the student from sitting for the examination in the final semester.

Apart from lectures, practical works both in labs and workshops are essential as a closure to a firm and deeper understanding for the students in the courses they select.

Grading system by Polytechnic is based on a quantitative performance evaluation of students in a course and is known as Grade Point System. According to the Grade Point System, the score or point of a course will be taken to set the Grade Point Average (GPA) and the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). The GPA shows the students’ performance for a particular semester while the CGPA shows the achievement of a student in a number of semesters until present.

  Advance Diploma : 6 - 11 semesters
  Diploma : 5 - 9 semesters

Pre-Diploma Program is a program implemented to provide opportunities for candidates who do not meet the minimum qualifications at the diploma level to study at the Polytechnic as well as give candidates a second chance to seize employment opportunities and improve their personal and family economic status.

 

Entry Requirements:

1. Malaysian Citizen of Indian descent.
2. Age not exceeding 23 years when applying.
3. Healthy condition.
4. Family or household income is less than RM 3,000 per month.
5. Did not receive any offer to further his studies at any other public institution of higher learning (IPT).

Program Mengubah Destini Warga Felda Malaysia:

1. Malaysian Citizen.
2. Age not exceeding 23 years when applying.
3. Healthy condition.
4. Family or household income is less than RM 3,000 per month
5. Did not receive any offer to further his studies at any other public institution of higher learning (IPT).
6. The applicant consists of:
    i.    Children or grandchildren of settlers.
    ii.   Son of a Felda administrator.
    iii.  Children of Felda employees only (not children of company employees).

Program Menggilap Impian Anak Muda:

1. Malaysian Citizen.
2. Healthy condition.
3. Family or household income is less than RM 3,000 per month.
4. Did not receive any offer to pursue studies at any other public institution of higher learning (IPT).


Special Program Requirement:

1. SPM with THREE (3) credits in any subject and meet the following minimum requirements:
   *Pass Bahasa Malaysia / Bahasa Melayu
   *Pass English
   *Pass Mathematics / Additional Mathematics
