INTRODUCTION
The Department of Mechanical Engineering (JKM) is the largest department in the four main academic departments in this polytechnic. The department has a very skilled workforce size and is equipped with many good equipment and machinery. The department has a team of lecturers and staff that are working together to further the department in achieving its goal of producing semi-professional, energetic, innovative, and pro-active qualities in manufacturing, plant engineering, and textile engineering, along with a national vision to achieve the status of full industry by 2020. The department is fully committed on offering courses at the diploma level.

OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the Department of Mechanical Engineering are to:
- Provide theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of mechanical engineering, to produce semi-skilled workers to meet the efficiency of needs of the country.
- Develop learning, and critical and creative thinking skills to be able to address the challenges that are arising from the development of technology and knowledge culture.
- Implement the integrated study programs that are set by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia.
- Develop attitudes and values based on the formation of a religious society, caring, disciplined, and highly competitive.
